A Wall Lake man was charged after a short pursuit with law enforcement Wednesday night.
Sac County Sheriff Ken McClure says a deputy assigned to a K-9 stopped 53-year-old Jerry Gregg for a traffic violation in the Lytton area . During the stop, the deputy developed enough cause to search the exterior of vehicle Gregg was operating with his K-9 partner. A positive alert for controlled substances was given by the dog. The deputy asked Gregg to step out of his car and Gregg accelerated the car in an attempt to elude law enforcement.
The deputy and a Sac City Police Officer who was assisting in the stop were nearly struck by the Gregg vehicle. Gregg fled for about two miles before stopping again. Gregg was taken in to custody without further incident.
Gregg is charged with interference with official acts with a dangerous weapon, a class “D” felony. Gregg is being held in the Sac County Jail on a five-thousand dollar bond. McClure says additional charges are expected.
