The Storm Lake school district will apply next March for renewal of the high school Charter School.
The charter school began in 2005, allowing high students to receive college credits from Iowa Central Community College during a fifth year of high school. Coordinator Britney Hill Wednesday night told the school board since the charter school began, students have earned over 16-thousand credits.
Hill says the charter advisory committee has completed the written application to extend the charter school for another four years… and they will make a presentation to the Iowa Department of Education on March 29th.
Storm Lake is the only school district in the state to offer an additional year of high school for college classes, and the only district asking the state for additional funding for that fifth year in high school.
