Pocahontas Burglary Arrests

The Pocahontas Police Department has filed charges against two people who were also arrested by the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office for criminal mischief.

According to the police department, officers allegedly observed 32-year-old Nathaniel Mefferd and 31-year-old Dawn Vanderhoff, both of Ruthven, attempting to break into a Pocahontas business.

Police charged Mefferd with two counts of third-degree attempted burglary and one count of criminal mischief. He was jailed on a five-thousand dollar bond.

Vanderhoff was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, and jailed on a three-thousand dollar bond. The charges are all aggravated misdemeanors.

Assisting Pocahontas Police were the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office, Laurens Police, and the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office.
