Storm Lake school superintendent Doctor Carl Turner Wednesday night announced his intention to retire, effective next June 30th.
The 60-year-old Turner has been Storm Lake’s superintendent since 2011, coming to Storm Lake from Le Mars, where he spent ten years as middle school principal and assistant superintendent.
In a letter presented to the board Wednesday night, Turner said he’s been blessed to be part of the district for the past six-and-a-half years. He said he would give his very best effort during his last semester as superintendent, and will help to ensure a smooth transition for the new superintendent.
The board reluctantly accepted his request to retire… and board president Peter Steinfeld noted they need to start the process to fill the position, and begin looking at search firms.
