The OA-BCIG basketball teams got the upper-hand on Ridge View Friday night.
The Falcons won the girls contest 46-43. Ridge View was on top 13-12 after the 1st quarter, but a 9-0 run put OA-BCIG in the drivers seat, and they ended up with a 25-23 lead at the half.
A three to start the 3rd quarter put Ridge View ahead, but a 10-0 run for the Falcons gave them their biggest lead at nine points, and led 37-30 going to the 4th.
The Raptors did not go quietly, as a three by Kinzey Dutler tied it at 39-39 with just over three minutes remaining. Ridge View was unable to grab the lead though, and with the Falcons up 44-43 and in-bounding on their side of the floor with 18.5 seconds left, Anna Van Dusen hit a layup moments later to stretch the lead, and the Raptors wound up missing a three in the closing seconds.
Van Dusen and Beth Rehse, each with 16 points, shared the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game. Beth Pickhinke led the Raptors with 14.
OA-BCIG is now 2-5 overall, and 2-3 in the Western Valley Conference, dropping Ridge View to 3-4, 2-3.
OA-BCIG was never behind in the boys game, taking it 57-28.
The Falcons strung together a 13-0 run in the 1st half, leading 24-15 at the break. Ridge View got within six early in the 3rd, but OA-BCIG answered with a 15-3 run, helping them to a 43-26 lead entering the 4th.
Kaden Ladwig, the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game, led the Falcons with 15, and was followed by Landon Ray with 11. Jaxon Franken had 16 for the Raptors.
OA-BCIG has already matched last year’s win total, winning their 4th straight, now 5-2, 3-2 Western Valley, dropping Ridge View to 2-5, 2-3.
