Five Years In Prison For Eluding

A Sioux City woman… who drove her vehicle into Storm Lake in Emerald Park in September… has been sentenced to prison.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office began a pursuit after a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Ellyn Wunder of Sioux City failed to stop. Wunder had a felony bench warrant from Sioux County for violation of probation on a burglary conviction. The pursuit continued into Storm Lake, when she drove her vehicle into the lake.

She was arrested by Storm Lake Police on a variety of traffic offenses… and was charged by Cherokee County with eluding, driving while revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, passing on a grade or hill, failure to yield, reckless driving, unsafe passing, no registration, speeding and failure to obey a stop sign.

According to court records, she pleaded guilty to the eluding charge, a class “D” felony… and was sentenced to five years in prison. She was also ordered to pay 26-hundred dollars in court costs. A 750-dollar fine was suspended.
