The Cherokee girls and Storm Lake boys basketball teams remain unbeaten after the two schools faced off in a varsity double-header Tuesday night at Cherokee.
The Braves girls (ranked 4th in 3A) pressed the entire first half on their way to a 97-40 victory over the Tornadoes. Cherokee, which led 62-24 at the half, was led by Jemae Nichols game high 23 points, Kassidy Pingel added 20 and the Braves improved to 6-0 on the year and 3-0 in the Lakes Conference.
Storm Lake was led by Skylar Cole’s ten points and the Tornadoes fall to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the Lakes.
The Storm lake boys got off to another great start scoring 23 first quarter points en route to a 72-58 win. Malga Yanga threw down a pair of first half dunks and led the team with 24 points. Cham Deng scored 20 and led the team on the glass.

The Tornadoes are now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Lakes Conference. Cherokee is now 2-4, 0-2.
Storm Lake teams will play again Friday night at LeMars. Both games will be broadcast on 92.9FM KKIA starting at 6:15pm
