Drug and weapon possession charges were issued to three men, after Storm Lake Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Lake Avenue and Railroad Street at around noon on Thursday due to suspicious activity.
Police allege that the driver and one passenger were both armed with pellet guns. In addition, one of the occupants was allegedly in possession of marijuana, and another was wanted by the Storm Lake Police Department in connection with an on-going drug investigation, where methamphetamine was reportedly seized from him on a traffic stop on October 13th. Police allege that drug paraphernalia was also seized during Thursday’s traffic stop.
Police arrested 24-year-old Phya Aung of Storm Lake…22-year-old Rey Martinez of Storm Lake…and 19-year-old Eh Lwe of Storm Lake.
A search warrant was executed on the vehicle, and a third pellet gun, a mask, and other evidence was discovered.
Aung was charged with Carrying a Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a two-thousand dollar bond.
Martinez was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor…and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. He was booked into the county jail on a one-thousand dollar bond.
Lwe was charged with Carrying a Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor…Possession of Marijuana, a serious misdemeanor…and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. He was booked into the county jail on a two-thousand dollar bond.
The arrests are part of an on-going investigation, and additional arrests are anticipated.
