Ridge View and Alta Aurelia Split

The Ridge View girls basketball team ended on an 8-2 run to help secure a 53-45 win at Alta Aurelia on Monday night.

Alta Aurelia led 11-7 after the 1st quarter, and went up by as many as nine, helped by a 12-0 1st half run, but the Raptors closed the gap to 21-18 at halftime.  Ridge View led 32-30 after the 3rd quarter.  The Warriors were up 36-35 with under five minutes to go, but Kara Richard sank back to back free throws giving Ridge View the lead back, which they would not relinquish for the remainder.

Richard had 10 points, sharing the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game with Beth Pickhinke, who led the Raptors with 11.  They are now 1-0.

Alta Aurelia was led by Lily Peterson with 18, as the Warriors are now 1-2.


Alta Aurelia never trailed in the boys game in their 61-38 victory, in what was both team’s season opener.

The Warriors were up 14-7 after the 1st quarter, 34-17 at the half, and 46-28 after the 3rd.

Tayler Gano got the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game, with a game-high 18 for the Warriors.  Jaxon Franken led Ridge View with 11.

The Ridge View teams on Friday will visit Lawton Bronson.

Alta Aurelia will visit Storm Lake St. Mary’s on Friday, and that double-header will be broadcast on 92.9 KKIA.
