A pickup and tractor collision last Friday afternoon in Clay County led to one of the driver’s receiving serious injuries.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at 1050 460th Street. Upon arrival of deputies, it was determined that Steven Biedenfeld of Peterson was driving a 1978 International 1486 Tractor, and was pulling out of a field drive, attempting to cross 460th Street northbound. Lynda Hoermann of Calumet was eastbound on 460th Street in a 1999 Dodge Dakota, when she collided with the tractor broadside.
Hoermann was taken from the scene to Spencer Hospital, and later air-lifted to Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with serious injuries. Biedenfeld was not injured. Hoermann’s vehicle was totaled, and Biedenfeld’s tractor was severely damaged.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Spencer Ambulance, Peterson Fire and Rescue, Royal Fire and Rescue, Sutherland Fire and Rescue, Sutherland Police Department, O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, and Bud’s Service.
