City Seeks Funding For Water Reuse Project

The city of Storm Lake is applying for a 100-thousand dollar grant from the Iowa Department of Agriculture for a storm water reuse system.

City manager Keri Navratil says the storm water harvesting and irrigation reuse system will compliment the Tenth and Ontario Street storm water retention project. Water runoff captured by the Tenth and Ontario project will be used to irrigate the Field of Dreams.

Navratil says the project is estimated to cost 175-thousand dollars and consist of a pump station and control panel. This week, the city council approved applying for the 100-thousand dollar grant… with the additional funds coming from local option sales taxes and franchise fees.
