Storm Lake has received a 75-thousand dollar grant to purchase property for a new city park.
Assistant city manager David Derragon Monday told the city council the REAP funds will allow the purchase of 1.28 acres of land on the south side of Tenth Street just east of the Mid-American Energy substation at the corner of Tenth and Vestal Street. The parcel may also be used for stormwater treatment as part of the Tenth and Vestal stormwater project.
Derragon says the REAP grant will pay for 100-percent of the purchase of the park land, while the city will be responsible for paying for closing costs and for the cost of development of the property. Monday the city council approved the grant agreement.
