Additional sex abuse and exploitation charges have been filed against a former Sioux Center Christian School teacher.
Curtis Van Dam was taken to the Sioux County jail yesterday (Wednesday) and charged with 101 felonies and 39 misdemeanors. According to Sioux Center Police, Van Dam has been charged with… 14 counts of sexual exploitation by a teacher, and one count of lascivious acts with a child. all class “d” felonies… 72 counts of second-degree sexual abuse, a class “b” felony… 12 counts of third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of lascivious acts with a child, all class “c” felonies… 34 counts of lascivious conduct with a minor, a serious misdemeanor… and five counts of indecent exposure, a serious misdemeanor.
The counts are in addition to the felony and serious misdemeanor he was charged with on October 23rd. The new charges were added due to the ongoing investigation into Van Dam’s conduct after a complaint was filed on October 18th.
The earliest allegation police discovered goes back to august of 2013 with subsequent allegations allegedly occurring through this October. Police say the alleged violations occurred at various locations, including the Sioux Center Christian School and involved numerous children.
The investigation continues and additional charges are possible.
