Police Blotter

On the morning of Sunday, November 5, 2017 at approximately 1:49am, the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the Super 8 Motel at 101 West Milwaukee Avenue in reference to an assault.
Upon arrival police met with the reporting party who alleged that a motel guest from room #231, later identified as Conrad Seymour Jr., age 50 of Schaller, IA, physically assaulted the reporting party and threatened the reporting party outside the front door of the motel.
Police located Seymour in his guest room and took him into custody without further incident.
Following an investigation the SLPD charged Seymour with Assault and Harassment (both simple misdemeanors). He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300.00 bond.
No injuries were reported.

On the evening of Friday, November 3, 2017 at approximately 11:26pm, the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to Puff’s Bar located at 1205 East Lakeshore Drive for a fight in progress.
Upon arrival of police they intervened and detained several persons at the bar. Police were advised by witnesses that several patrons were allegedly asked to leave the bar. They initially refused but then upon leaving they began shoving and pushing other patrons, yelling and screaming. One of the detained personal was also allegedly involved in the damaging of property in the bar.
Police arrested and charged the following:
Christopher Preston, age 38 of Sault Sainte Marie, MI was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication and Criminal Trespass (all simple misdemeanors). He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300.00 bond.
Jose Menjivar Ortega, age 37 of Storm Lake was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication and Criminal Trespass (all simple misdemeanors). He was booked into the county jail on a $300.00 bond.
Diego Rodriguez, age 23 of Storm Lake was charged with Public Intoxication and Criminal Trespass (all simple misdemeanors). He was booked into the county jail on a $300.00 bond.
Andres Salazar, age 38 of Storm Lake was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication, Criminal Trespass and Criminal Mischief (all simple misdemeanors). He was booked into the county jail on a $300.00 bond.
Damages in the bar are estimated at $50.00.
No injuries were reported.

On the evening of Friday, November 3, 2017 the Storm Lake Police Department conducted a series of alcohol compliance checks.
Police conducted alcohol compliance checks at sixteen (16) different licensed alcohol establishments in Storm Lake to check for the sale of alcoholic beverages to underage patrons.
The SLPD reports that fifteen (15) establishments appropriately checked for ID and did not serve an underage patron. One location allegedly did serve an underage patron at the Regatta Grille in Kings Pointe Resort.
Police cited Alyssa Donnelly, age 20 of Council Bluffs, IA with Employee Supplying Alcohol to a minor (simple misdemeanor). She was cited and released pending a court date.

On the morning of Sunday, November 5, 2017 at approximately 1:05am, the Storm Lake Police Department observed a wanted person while conducting a bar check at Mo’s Bar on Lake Avenue.
Police made contact with and arrested Jason Flowers, age 41 of Storm Lake who was wanted out of Buena Vista County on a warrant charging him with Contempt of Court reference OWI 2nd Offense.
Flowers was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.

On the morning of Sunday, November 5, 2017 at approximately 1:55am, the Storm Lake Police Department observed a wanted person while conducting a bar check at the Malarky’s Night Club on Flindt Drive.
Police made contact with and arrested Martin Espinoza-Rodriguez, age 21 of Storm Lake who was wanted out of Buena Vista County on a warrant charging him with Failure to Appear in Court reference Disorderly Conduct and 2 counts of Domestic Assault.
He was booked into the county jail on a $300.00 bond.

All defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
