SCC Beats East Sac To Capture District

South Central Calhoun is the 2A district 7 champions as a result of their 35-7 victory over East Sac County in Lake City.

An interception by Jared Birks set up SCC’s first score, as they went 27 yards in two plays.  Jonathon Frantz ran 19 yards to the end-zone, and the PAT made it 7-0.  Late in the 1st quarter, the Titans struck again on an 80 yard touchdown pass from Hunter Muhlbauer to Frantz.  In the 2nd quarter, a 40 yard touchdown pass from Muhlbauer to Chase McAlister made the score 21-0.  Late in the 2nd quarter, East Sac got the ball at the Titans 19 yard line, thanks to a high snap on a punt.  On 3rd and goal from the 1, a quarterback sneak by Griffin O’Neill, and then the PAT, closed the gap to 21-7 with 18 seconds left in the half.

McAlister, the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game, continued to shine in the 2nd half, scoring runs of 17 and 24 yards, and also getting his eighth interception of the year on defense.  McAlister ran for 51 yards on the night, Frantz had 73 rushing yards, and Tanner Macke added 66.  Mulhbauer threw for 142, as the Titans racked up 363 total yards of offense.

East Sac was limited to 165 total yards.  Garret Bruce rushed for 86 yards on 24 carries.  The Raiders season concludes at 5-4, and 5-2 in the district.

South Central Calhoun will host a 1st round playoff game next Friday, as they make their 5th consecutive postseason appearance, sitting at 8-1, and finishing 7-0 in the district.
