The Storm Lake girls swim team lost two duals in their last regular meet of the season. In a meet dedicated to Austin Crew-the Spencer student who went in to cardiac arrest in Storm Lake Friday night-it was a night of mixed results with some swimmers ending their season on a high note and others coming up short of what they had wanted to accomplish in the meet. The final scores were Spencer 94, Storm Lake 77 and Sioux City Metro 114, Storm Lake 70.
In varsity action the only win of the night was earned by Grace Meier in the 100yd breaststroke. In the same event Sami Lalone placed 2nd making that the team’s best event of the night. Also placing second was the 200yd Medley Relay team of Alli Graff, Grace Meier, Megan Brown and Kylie Mongan. Mongan was also 3rd in her 100yd backstroke race along with 3rd place finishes by Lindsay Williams in the 200yd freestyle and Alli Graff in the 200yd Individual Medley.
In JV events the team had two of each finish: 1st, 2nd and 3rd. In first were Kennedy Tate in the 100yd backstroke and the JV 400yd Freestyle A Relay team of Emma Jensen, Isabel Gebers, Sami Lalone and Vivian Keenan. The JV 400yd Freestyle B Relay team of Brooklyn Wissbaum, Jaylyn Vandervort, Mercedes Juelfs and Chloe Lalone were 2nd making that the best event for the team on the JV side. Also placing 2nd was Ellie Scully in the JV 100yd breaststroke and she also had a 3rd place finish in her 200yd freestyle race. The JV 200yd Freestyle Relay team of Chloe Lalone, Anahi Garcia, Sami Lalone and Kennedy Tate also placed 3rd.
