SL Council Approves Airport Plan, Reviews Projects

Progress is being made on Storm Lake projects funded by a Community Development Block Grant.

City manager Keri Navratil this week told the city council work is about 46-percent complete on the North Central Phase Two storm sewer project… while work is just beginning on the First and Mae Street sanitary sewer project. So far, 933-thousand dollars in grant funds have been spent, with 311-thousand dollars in local matching funds expended.

This week, the city council approved the airport capital improvement program, which had already been approved by the airport commission. Project include 190-thousand dollars for taxiway and apron pavement rehab… 527-thousand dollars for runway and taxiway lighting replacements… and 220-thousand dollars for runway navaids replacement.

Navratil says the airport projects are funded 90-percent by the FAA and ten-percent by the city. The projects are to be completed over the next five years.
