Storm Lake Girls Swim Team Dunks Algona 10-12-17

The Tornadoes took to the pool last night at Emmetsburg in a dual meet against Algona.  The team had lots of top finishes and the final score was Storm Lake 149 to Algona’s 105.

Coach Jodi Mongan had the following comments, “in varsity action the team had 8 first place finishes, 6 second place finishes and 6 3rd place finishes. First place individual finishes included Grace Meier in the 200yd freestyle and the 100yd backstroke. Lindsay Williams was first in the 100yd freestyle, Alli Graff in the 50yd freestyle and Kennedy Tate won the 500yd freestyle. All 3 “A” relays won their events. In the 200yd Medley Relay it was Alli Graff, Isabel Gebers, Emma Jensen and Brooklyn Wissbaum that got the win. In the 200yd Freestyle Relay it was Grace Meier, Alli Graff, Lindsay Williams and Kylie Mongan taking 1st place and in the 400yd Freestyle Relay Beth Runneberg, Vivian Keenan, Grace Meier and Kylie Mongan were the team getting the win.

Several of the 2nd place finishes came behind teammates. In the 200yd freestyle Kylie Mongan finished 2nd, in the 100yd freestyle Vivian Keenan was 2nd and in the 100yd backstroke Alli Graff took 2nd. Both “B” free relays also placed 2nd behind their teammates. In the 200 it was Wissbaum, Jensen, Tate and Megan Brown that were 2nd and in the 400 it was Ellie Scully, Gebers, Williams and Brown. Also placing 2nd was Beth Runneberg in the 200yd Individual Medley.

The team was also 3rd in a couple of these events. In the 200yd freestyle Megan Brown finished 3rd and in the 100yd freestyle Beth Runneberg was 3rd.

In JV action the team had 3 firsts, 3 seconds and 3 thirds! Lindsay Williams was 1st in the JV 200yd freestyle, Megan Brown was 1st in the JV 100yd backstroke and the team took first through 6th place in the JV 50yd freestyle. Kennedy Tate was 1st, Isabel Gebers 2nd and Vivian Keenan 3rd. Emma Jensen was 2nd in the JV 100yd backstroke and the JV 200yd Medley Relay team of Marian Comparan, Jisela Meyer, Alejandra Rodriguez and Mia Alvarez were 2nd.
