Removing and replacing trees at the Storm Lake Cemetery continues.
The cemetery received a ten-thousand dollars Trees Forever grant earlier this year and spent 84-hundred dollars on new trees, which were planted in the spring. The cemetery board has now ordered ten more trees to spend the rest of the grant.
Board secretary Dennis Fisher says they are also getting a bid for taking out eight to ten old trees in poor condition. He says those trees are along the middle driveway, and they’re not planning to replace them right away, as they already have 300 trees that need to be watered every week.
Fisher says they have taken out over 100 old trees, while planting more that number of new trees.
