Police Blotter

On the morning of Friday, October 6, 2017 at approximately 5:00am, a Storm Lake Police Officer on patrol observed a wanted person driving a vehicle.
Police stopped the vehicle in the 800 block of Flindt Drive where they made contact with and arrested Lazaro Veliz, age 40 of Storm Lake. Veliz was wanted by the Storm Lake Police Department on a charge of Harassment 3rd Degree (simple misdemeanor). The charge stemmed from an allegation that Veliz harassed his ex-wife on August 12, 2017 at a residence on Michigan Street.
Veliz was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300.00 bond.

On the morning of Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at approximately 11:26am, the Storm Lake Fire Department responded to Furst-McNess located at 2000 Expansion Blvd. in reference to an automated fire alarm.
Upon arrival of fire fighters it was determined that an alarm pull station had inadvertently been activated by electricians working in the facility.
There was no fire and no damage.
The fire department was on scene for approximately 10 minutes and was assisted at the scene by the Storm Lake Police Department.
