Felony Charges In Credit Card Fraud Arrest

A Denison man faces several charges after Storm Lake police investigated a report of the unlawful use of the credit card at businesses in Storm Lake.

Police determined a person allegedly purchased 150-dollars in merchandise from Casey’s West Wednesday using a fraudulent credit card with the victim’s number on it. Security video was acquired from the store with the suspect on it. Thursday, Casey’s West told police the suspect returned and was allegedly purchasing items with another credit card.

A description was provided of the suspect’s vehicle, which was located by police in the 200-block of West Milwaukee. Police allege 28-year-old Orlando Miranda Diaz of Denison had several fraudulent credit cards in his possession.

Thursday evening, police searched the vehicle… seizing a credit card reader, gift cards, cell phones, unknown pills, and other items.

Diaz was charged with ongoing criminal conduct, a class “B” felony… forgery, a class “D” felony… and two counts of unauthorized use of credit cards, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was jailed on a 25-thousand dollar bond.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending. Denison police assisted in the investigation.
