The Iowa Finance Board of Directors Wednesday approved more than 3.6-million dollars in homeless assistance grants to assist 49 agencies during the 2018 calendar year.
Locally, Upper Des Moines Opportunity was awarded 145-thousand dollars to assist affected individuals and families quickly regain permanent housing after sustaining a housing crisis or homelessness. It includes things such as rent assistance, emergency financial assistance, emergency shelter, case management and supportive services.
The program is administered by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development and by the Iowa Finance Authority.
