The Storm Lake girls swim team was at Boone last night for a double dual, the team came up short in both duals losing to Carroll by the score of 72-29, and Boone defeated the Tornadoes 64-30.
he top performance of the night in varsity action was Grace Meier’s win in the 100yd breaststroke event with a time of 1:11.45. Kylie Mongan also had a good night placing 2nd in both her races. In the 100yd freestyle she swam her best time of the season in a close race where she finished just .35 behind for a :58.66 time. In the 100yd backstroke, which she was swimming for the first time this season, her 2nd place time was 1:06.64. Lindsay Williams also had a great 50yd freestyle race where she came in 2nd in a time of :27.84. Storm Lake’s relay teams placed 3rd in all 3 of their events. In the 200yd Medley Relay Williams, Meier, Megan Brown and Kennedy Tate were 3rd in 2:05.95. In the 200yd Freestyle Relay it was Williams, Meier, Mongan and Alli Graff finishing just .03 behind the 2nd place team with a time of 1:51.28 and in the 400yd Freestyle Relay it was Graff, Meier, Mongan and Taylor Richardson that were 3rd in 4:09.05.
In JV action the team did really well also. In the 50yd freestyle Storm Lake took 1st and 2nd with Kennedy Tate finishing in :29.59 and Brooklyn Wissbaum in :30.08. Two exhibition swimmers also posted great times with Isabel Gebers going :29.57 and Taylor Richardson at :29.73. Vivian Keenan won the JV 100yd freestyle event in 1:06.5. Chloe Lalone was 1st in the JV 100yd breaststroke event in 1:26.2 and the JV 400yd Freestyle Relay team of Ellie Scully, Emma Jensen, Isabel Gebers and Lindsay Williams won in 4:20.68. The other two relays were both 2nd in their events with the JV 200yd Medley Relay team of Jaylyn Vandervort ,Mercedes Juelfs, Chloe Lalone and Isabel Gebers finishing in 2:26.74 and the JV 200yd Freestyle Relay team of Taylor Richardson, Vivian Keenan, Emma Jensen and Isabel Gebers finishing in 1:59.47. Beth Runneberg was 2nd in the JV 200yd freestyle event in 2:25.28 and a pair of 3rd place finishes rounds out the JV action. Mercedes Juelfs was 3rd in the JV 100yd backstroke event in 1:26.91 and Jaylyn Vandervort was 3rd in the JV 100yd breaststroke event in 1:38.7.
