Iowa’s corn harvest is officially underway, but the pace of harvest is nearly two weeks behind the five-year average.
As of Sunday, six percent of Iowa’s corn crop was harvested, and only two-percent in northwest Iowa… compared to 18 percent normal for the first of October.
Soybean harvest was 16 percent complete statewide, three days behind average. In northwest Iowa, ten-percent of the beans had been harvested as of Sunday.
Topsoil moisture is two-percent very short… nine-percent short… and 89-percent adequate. Last week, there were 3.8 days suitable for field work.
