The Buena Vista County Supervisors have renewed the county’s agreement with the state DOT to operate the county’s driver’s license department.
County treasurer Sherie Elbert says the agreement is the same as before, with the county providing the facility. She says they are reimbursed by the state for providing the service, although the reimbursement doesn’t cover all of the costs.
Elbert says the county will continue to offer driving tests by appointment… however they don’t currently offer motorcycle or commercial driver’s license driving tests, which are available from Cherokee County.
Elbert says not many state-operated driver’s license facilities are still open. The state offices in Carroll and Spencer were closed in August of last year… and the closest state driver’s license stations are in Fort Dodge and Sioux City.
