Alliant Energy has finalized an agreement for a wind farm in Clay and Dickinson counties.
Allient announced Friday the Upland Prairie Wind Farm will consist of 121 turbines, producing 300-megawatts of power. Construction is expected to being next spring.
Alliant Energy says if the project receives final approval from the Iowa Utilities Board, it would result in one-third of Alliant’s energy in Iowa coming from wind starting in 2020. Alliant Energy received approval in 2016 to add up to 500 megawatts of wind energy. The company has requested a similar expansion from the Iowa Utilities Board again in 2017.
