Sioux Central scored the last 20 points in their 26-7 win over Ridge View in Holstein.
Early in the 2nd quarter, Ridge View had 3rd and goal from the 1, but back-to-back negative plays gave the Rebels the ball, and they proceeded to go 95-yards in 16 plays in a drive that lasted 7:37. Jake Hanson scored on a five-yard run to make it 6-0, and that was the score at halftime.
The Raptors had the ball to started the 2nd half, and went on an 11-play, 65-yard drive which covered 5:07. Jake Tokheim’s 8-yard pass to Logan Cuthrell, followed by Jaxon Franken’s PAT gave Ridge View a 7-6 advantage.
Ridge View then forced a punt, but on the first play of the next Raptors drive, Blake Cavanaugh turned in the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Play of the Game with an interception, and the Rebels then went 42-yards in ten plays. Jake Gasperi’s four-yard run, and Hanson’s two-point run gave Sioux Central a 14-7 lead with 10:53 to go in the 4th.
After a three-and-out, Ben Hargens polished off a 67-yard drive with a 19-yard touchdown run with 3:48 remaining, and later scored on a one-yard run in the final seconds.
Hargens earned the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game with 45-carries for 227-yards and the two touchdowns. The Rebels had 304 yards of offense, all of it rushing.
Tokheim had three completions for 78 yards, all to Cuthrell.
Both teams are now 4-2 overall, and 3-1 in Class A district 2. Ridge View will visit district-leading Algona Garrigan next Friday, while Sioux Central also has another crucial contest as they’ll host Hartley Melvin Sanborn.
