Clark–Crusaders Hand Tornadoes First Loss

Saybien Clark ran for 180 yards on 31 carries and scored a touchdown leading Sioux City-Heelan to a 10-7 win over Storm Lake in a game played Friday night in Sioux City. Clark also blocked a potential game tying 36 yard field goal by Gerardo Rosiles with 20 seconds left in the game to preserve the win.

The Crusaders finished the game with 246 yards of offense while the Tornadoes had 198. Brayden Hoops, who ran the ball 13 times for 96 yards scored the only touchdown for Storm Lake on a 67 yard run late in the first quarter. The Crusaders answered with an 80 yard touchdown drive capped off by Clark’s nine yard touchdown run.

Andres Salcedo booted a 33 yard field goal for Heelan with 4:10 to go in the third quarter and that proved to be the scoring difference.

Storm lake has their 13 game regular season win streak snapped as they fall to 3-1 overall, 1-1 in the district. The Tornadoes will host Humboldt this Friday. Bishop Heelan is also 3-1, 1-1 and will host LeMars Friday.
