On the evening of Monday, September 11, 2017 at approximately 9:00pm, the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the Storm Lake Wal-Mart Store in reference to a theft.
Upon arrival police met with store staff who alleged that at approximately 1:30pm on Monday a patron removed approximately $30.00 in merchandise from the store without paying for it. The suspect departed the store property in a 2003 red Chevy pickup truck.
At approximately 11:30pm a police officer on patrol observed the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of Tyson Pork. Police subsequently located the suspect, identified as Yanisley Fernandez, age 21 of Storm Lake at Tyson and arrested her.
The SLPD charged Fernandez with Theft 5th Degree (simple misdemeanor) and booked her into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300.00 bond.
The SLPD was assisted in the investigation by Tyson Security.
On August 28 at approximately 9:31pm, at W. 6th St. in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Obed Garcia Serrano of Storm Lake, struck a building owned by Johan Funk of Storm Lake. Total damages were estimated at $4,500. Garcia was cited for No Valid Driver License.
