Tornadoes Beat Poky–Hoops Scores 4 TD’s

The Storm Lake football team improved to 2-0 on the year with a 49-13 win over Pocahontas Area Friday night at Storm Lake.

Brayden Hoops carried the ball 13 times for 69 yards and scored three touchdowns on runs of 3, 3, and 28 yards, he also caught a five yard touchdown pass. Lamar Mulgae added a 22 yard TD run, Manny Chavez scored from four yards out, and Jake Heitman had a nine yard touchdown run.

Storm Lake had 429 yards of offense with 253 of those on the ground. Quarterback Kevin Duque was 16-for-22 for 176 yards and a touchdown, Chavez had seven catches for 60 yards.

Pocahontas Area had 286 yards of offense, quarterback Chase Boeve ran the ball 15 times for 109 yards and scored both Indian touchdowns on runs of one and 70 yards. Cam Callion caught seven passes for 113 yards.

The unbeaten Tornadoes, who have scored 98 points in their first two games, will host Algona Friday. Pocahontas Area falls to 0-2 and will host Cherokee Friday.

The Wells Ag Supply of Fonda player of the game was shared by Callion and Duque.
