Both Drivers Injured In Clay County Crash

Minor injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon on Highway 18 in Clay County.

The Sheriff’s Office says Joel Hartmann of Everly was eastbound and was slowing to make a right turn when his pickup was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by David Porreca of Spencer. The impact sent Hartmann’s vehicle into the south ditch where it rolled, coming to rest on its roof. Porreca’s vehicle went into the south ditch and came to rest in a field.

Neither driver was apparently taken to the hospital, even though minor injuries were reported. Porreca was cited for failure to stop in an assured, clear distance. There was 25-thousand dollars damage to Porreca’s truck… 75-hundred dollars damage to Hartmann’s vehicle.
