Police Blotter


On the evening of Thursday, May 4, 2017 at approximately 8:45pm the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the China One Buffet located at 1419 North Lake Avenue in reference to a disturbance in progress.

pon arrival of police they met with employees who alleged that a patron got upset over the carry out policy of the establishment and confronted staff, raising his voice and placing them in fear.
Police identified the patron as Simon Key, age 49 of Storm Lake and following an investigation arrested Key charging him with Disorderly Conduct (simple misdemeanor). Key was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300.00 bond.

All defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.

On May 4, 2017 at approximately 11:36am, in the 1800 block of W 5th St in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Ivan Rios Noa of Storm Lake, was involved in an accident with another vehicle driven by Joseph Titcomb of Holstein, IA. The two vehicles collided causing total estimated damages at $2,000. Titcomb was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Reasonable and Proper Rate.

Between April 28 and May 4, two vandalisms were reported in Storm Lake. Total damages were estimated at $330.

On April 29, a Burglary was reported at 210 Phillips St in Storm Lake. Estimated value of the items reported missing at $50.

On May 4, a Burglary was reported at 714 Geneseo St in Storm Lake. Estimated value of the items reported missing at $1,080.
