Ryan Radke’s hot outside shooting early on put Alta Aurelia in the drivers seat, helping the Warriors to a 54-36 win over Tri Center Neola in the nightcap of a 2A boys basketball district semifinal on Thursday night in Alta.
Radke hit five 1st quarter threes, scoring the team’s first 12 points, lifting them to a 17-7 lead after the 1st quarter, and 28-17 at the half. The closest the Trojans got in the 2nd half was 35-26 late in the 3rd quarter. The Warriors never trailed in the game.
Radke had 17 on the night, sharing the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game with Tayler Gano, who had 13, with 11 of those in the 2nd half.
Tri Center’s season ends at 13-10. Alta Aurelia is now 20-1, pushing their winning streak to 19. Coach Evan Franzmeier, along with Radke, Carson Kruger, Tayler Gano, and Alex Sangwin spoke after the game…
The Warriors will face Hinton in the district final Tuesday night at 7pm at Sioux City North. Hinton defeated East Sac County 66-38 to the first semifinal.
Hinton never trailed, going on a 12-0 run in the 1st half, helping them to a 19-8 lead after the 1st quarter. The Blackhawks led by as much as 20 in the 1st half, and were up 38-20 at halftime.
Brandyn Clair scored 16 of East Sac’s points in the 1st half, finishing with 17, and getting the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game.
The Raiders season concludes at 15-8. Their seniors include Sam Scott, Nolan Litterer, and Connor Grote.
Hinton (18-4) was led by Jay Small with 39, including 25 in the 1st half.
Tuesday’s district final between Alta Aurelia and Hinton at Sioux City North will be broadcast along the Storm Lake radio stations.
