A decisive third quarter helped #5 Cherokee roll to an 82-38 win over East Sac County in a Class 3A regional semifinal played Wednesday night in Cherokee.
The Braves scored the first seven points of the game and never trailed in the contest as they led the Raiders 18-13 after one quarter and 44-28 at halftime. Cherokee outscored East Sac 24-5 in the third quarter to activate the continuous clock as East Sac was held to just two 2nd half field goals.
Taylor Houska led the Raiders, scoring a game-high 21 points. Paityn Hagberg led the Braves in scoring with 16 points while Payton Slaughter added 14.
Cherokee moves to 19-3 overall and will take on #9 Shenandoah in the regional final Saturday night in Denison with a trip to state on the line. East Sac ends the season at 6-16 and graduates three seniors; Hannah Schmidt, Megan Wright and Riley Fischer.
