Poky girls drain 20 3’s in tourney opener

The Pocahontas Area-Laurens-Marathon girls basketball team tied their own state record by draining 20 three-pointers in their 99-27 win over Clarion-Goldfield-Down in a class 3A regional quarter-final game played Saturday night at Pocahontas.  Elle Ruffridge buried nine of her own and scored a game high 39 points while dishing out eleven assists.  Faith Meyer scored 14, and Payton Hjerleid added 13 and the Indians tied their own state record for most 3’s made in a game with 20.  Five players combined for ten of those in a 43 point first quarter.

The Indians are now 22-1 and will play Roland Story Wednesday night in Pocahontas.  Game time is 7pm.
