A Milford man charged in February after a 30-mile car chase through three counties has been sentenced.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reports a deputy attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle driven by 52-year-old Robert Hurd. The vehicle turned onto a gravel road and Hurd tried to elude the deputy. A pursuit began… with the deputy following Hurd north through Clay County. The pursuit continued through Dickinson and Emmet Counties, with speeds in excess of 100 miles an hour. Eventually, deputies were able to deflate Hurd’s tires and he was taken into custody.
Hurd was charged with aggravated misdemeanor eluding, careless driving, reckless driving and multiple other simple misdemeanor charges. He pleaded guilty to eluding, and was given a one-year suspended sentence. Hurd was placed on probation for one year and ordered to pay 647-dollars in court costs and restitition. A 625-dollar fine was suspended.
