The Storm Lake football team traveled to Spirit Lake Friday night and made a statement with a dominating performance defeating the Indians 41-3. In the process the Tornadoes clinched the school’s first ever playoff berth in football.
The Tornadoes had 500 yards of offense for the game with Michael Demers completing 12 of 20 passes for 366 yards and his big play receivers made big play after big play. Parker Lange had five catches for a 167 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Lamar Mulgae had two receptions for 135 yards and a score. Storm Lake had 134 yards rushing led by Josh Werge who carried the ball 14 times for 45 yards and two scores (giving him 12 rushing touchdowns on the year) Brayden Hoops had a rushing TD in the first quarter.
Storm Lake never trailed in the game leading 14-3 at the half.
The Tornado defense was dominant again holding an Indians team that was averaging 33 points per game to just a Ben Steffans 32 yard field goal in the 1st quarter.

Storm Lake is now 7-0, 5-0 in the district will play at Spencer Friday, October 14th before closing out the regular season at home against Sergeant Bluff-Luton October 21st.
First round of the class 3A playoffs are October 28th.
