1A baseball recap from Algona

West Bend-Mallard’s Jack Banwart delivered a walk off 3-run homer in the Wolverines 13-10 ten inning win over Sioux Central.

Banwart also picked up the win (6 1/3 IP, 1R, 2H, 11K’s, 2BB’s).

With the Rebels trailing 9-8 Franky Perkins led off the 7th inning with a double and Zach Lundquist would follow with an RBI single to tie the game.  Perkins led a nine hit attack collecting three in the game.

Freshman Caden Webber suffered the loss, he threw 3 1/3 innings of relief.  Chase Jessen started and pitched the first two innings, Jake Hason threw four innings for the Rebels who finish the year with a record of 12-18.

Sioux Central committed 10 errors in the game.  Time of the game was 3:37.  West Bend-Mallard (12-13) will now play at Fort Dodge-St. Ed’s Thursday at 7pm.

 

In the nightcap, the Algona-Garrigan team beat Saint Mary’s 10-1.  The Golden Bears scored four runs on five hits in the first two innings off Panther starter Cale Murray.  Panthers got their only run in the third when Michael Demers delivered an RBI single scoring Zach Lenhart who led off the inning with a single. Each team had nine hits in the game, Murray and Demers each had to for the Panthers who finish the season with a record of 3-18.

Joel Vaske pitched the first six innings and picked up the win, Murray was saddled with the loss.

Garrian (18-15) will now play North Union Thursday at 5pm at Fort Dodge.
