Wilken outduels Kraemer in Mustang win

Twin Lakes Conference softball at Fonda Wednesday night was broadcast on KAYL and Newell-Fonda senior Jordan Wilken notched her 6th win of the year and the Mustangs beat Alta-Aurelia 3-1.

Wilken went the distance giving up one run on a pair of hits while striking out eight batters, she walked a pair and hit two others.

With two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning and the game tied at one Warriors starting pitcher Abby Kraemer would hit a pair of batters and walk another to load the bases.  8th grader Megan Morenz would then deliver the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda play of the game with a clutch two-run single.

Kraemer gave up three runs on four hits, she struck out eleven, walked three and hit three batters, the freshman falls to 18-6.

Wilken led off the Mustangs first with a single, she would later score on Abby Smith’s RBI double.  The Warriors would tie the game in the 3rd inning when Lily Peterson delivered an RBI double.

The Mustangs are now 24-10 and will host Okoboji Thursday night.  The Warriors are now 20-8, both teams will play in the Storm Lake tournament on Saturday and then host home games in tournament play July 6th.
