SL Man Arrested Twice

A Storm Lake man has been jailed twice this week on charges including burglary and sexual abuse.
Last Sunday afternoon at approximately 5pm, the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to 809 Oneida Street in reference to a trespass. Responding officers arrived on scene and were advised by residents that an adult male had allegedly entered the residence intoxicated, and was coerced out of the house by the victims. Police located the suspect and identified him as 23-year-old Dehler John of Storm Lake.
Following an investigation, John was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass and Public Intoxication, both simple misdemeanors. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a 300-dollar bond.
On Monday, Storm Lake Police were contacted again by the reporting parties, and it was further disclosed that while John was in the victim’s residence, he allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old female who was at home during the time of his trespass. Police met with the victim and scheduled a forensic interview at the Child Advocacy Center at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Following the interview, and a follow-up by police this (Wed) morning, John, who had been released from jail earlier in the week, was questioned again.
Following questioning, John was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Burglary, class B felony…and 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse, a class C felony. He was booked into the county jail on a 25-thousand dollar bond.
