Police Blotter

On the afternoon of Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at approximately 4:08pm ,the Storm Lake Fire Department responded to Faith, Hope and Charity located at 1815 West Milwaukee Avenue in reference to an automated fire alarm.
Upon arrival of fire fighters it was determined that cooking smoke had activated the alarm system.
There was no fire and no damage.
The fire department was on scene for approximately 10 minutes and was assisted at the scene by the Storm Lake Police Department.

On April 4, a burglary was reported at 309 Grand in Storm Lake. The total value of the items reported missing was estimated at $70.

On April 5, at approximately 12:10pm, at the intersection of 7th and Michigan in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Paul Utterback of Rembrandt, IA was involved in an accident with another vehicle driven by Brenda Dominguez of Storm Lake. One injury was reported and total damages were estimated at $5,500.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at approximately 12:54pm, the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the Storm Lake Wal-Mart Store in reference to a theft.
Responding officers were advised that a customer had allegedly left the store without paying for approximately $12.00 in merchandise. The female suspect left the parking lot in a red Dodge pickup truck traveling southbound.
Officers observed the suspect vehicle and stopped it in the parking lot of the Hy-Vee Store.
Police made contact with driver and identified her as Savanna Judson, age 19 of Dedham, IA. Police allege they located and seized the stolen items from the vehicle.
Following an investigation the SLPD arrested Judson and charged her with Theft 5th Degree (simple misdemeanor). She was booked and released at the Buena Vista County Jail pending a court date.

All defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
