DNR Fishing Report

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources issued their weekly fishing report on Thursday in an effort to provide the latest information heading into the weekend.
For Storm Lake, including Little Storm Lake…water temperatures are in the mid-40s. Expect good walleye fishing near shore this weekend and next week, as water temperatures continue to climb, and walleye exhibit spawning behavior. Try areas near shore that contain sand, rocks, and/or gravel substrate.
For Black Hawk Lake in Lake View…water level is nine inches over the crest of the spillway. Anglers have had luck catching bluegill and crappie in Town Bay and near the inlet bridge. Walleye are being picked up in Town Bay and along the shoreline around Ice House Point. This time of year, walleye fishing near shore can be expected, as water temperatures continue to climb and walleye exhibit spawning behavior. Try areas near shore that contain sandy or gravel substrate.
The weekly fishing report is compiled from information gathered from local bait shops, angler creel surveys, and county and state parks staff.
