Thompson Arrest

A Storm Lake man was arrested after the Storm Lake Police Department responded to a report of trespassing and threats being made at 700 Elmwood Drive.
Police arrived at the residence just before 8am today. Upon arrival, police spoke with the reporting party outside of the residence, who advised police that her ex-boyfriend, 38-year-old Joshua Thompson, had come to the residence and was allegedly refusing to leave. The female victim told police that Thompson came to the residence at approximately 7pm on Tuesday evening and refused to leave after being told. She further alleged that Thompson threatened to kill the victim and burn the house down. He then reportedly damaged walls and other property in the home. The next morning, the victim exited the home with her two-year-old daughter and called police. Neither the victim nor her daughter were physically harmed.
Police entered the residence and located Thompson, where he was taken into custody without further incident. Police allege that located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia that belonged to Thompson in the residence.
Following an investigation, Thompson was charged with 3rd Offense Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, a class D felony…1st Degree Harassment and 2nd Degree Domestic Assault, both aggravated misdemeanors…5th Degree Criminal Mischief, Criminal Trespass, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, all simple misdemeanors. Thompson was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.
