Storm Lake police arrested a teen Friday night in connection with the shooting of a pellet gun.
Officers were dispatched to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Emergency Room, where a 14-year old boy who had been shot with a pellet gun was being treated. The victim told police he was with a group of friends at 120 Hudson Street, when a 15-year-old boy shot him in the leg. The suspect then loaded the pellet gun a second time and shot the victim in his leg a second time. Both pellet rounds penetrated the victim’s pants and flesh, lodging in his leg.
Police interviewed several witnesses and later on Friday evening arrested the 15-year-old and charged him with assault causing serious injury, a class “D” felony. He was taken to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee, pending an appearance in juvenile court.
