MARSHALLTOWN-The Tornado Swimmers had a fantastic end to an epic season with Keely Soellner realizing her goal of getting on the podium at State (which is the top 6 finishers in each event) by more than just a small margin. Additionally, the four girls that swam at the meet ended up scoring enough points to put them tied for 13th place of the 33 teams that scored points in the meet. They scored 55 points during their 6 swims which tied Muscatine’s score. Ames was back on top this year scoring 355 points-a full 155 points more than any other team!
Keely Soellner’s first swim of the day was good enough for a new school record and 3rd place in the state! Her final time was 1:53.19, beating her previous best from the Regional meet last week of 1:54.9. In her 2nd individual swim of the day she had a GREAT swim and another school record ending up 4th.
