A Storm Lake High School student has been sentenced in connection with charges filed in March after the school was placed on lockdown.
Police allege on March 12th,16-year-old Octavius Davis of Storm Lake attempted to assault another student, but was restrained. He then broke free from the restraint and armed himself with a chair, striking a teacher with the chair. He then reportedly told the teacher he was going to return with a gun and end the argument. Two victims at the high school reported minor injuries.
The high school and the adjoining Iowa Central Community College were placed on lock down for about 45 minutes. Police located Davis at 919 East Fifth Street. He was charged with terroristic threats, assault while participating in a felony, and going armed with intent, all class “D” felonies… assault with a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor…and assault, a simple misdemeanor.
Davis pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of assault and disorderly conduct, with the other charges dismissed. He was placed on probation… ordered to complete a substance abuse evaluation and anger management counseling… and to perform 90 hours of community service.
