The Buena Vista Supervisors Tuesday morning approved a letter of intent to have I-and-S Group perform inspections for the proposed Dakota Access pipeline.
Last week, I-and-S engineer Brian Blomme told the Supervisors he firm can offer inspection services to the county during construction of the pipeline… which will cross Buena Vista and 17 other counties. He said the county will be reimbursed by the pipeline company for the costs of the inspections… with the inspectors working for the county.
Supervisor Paul Merten said Calhoun County already signed a letter of intent with I-and-S, and they would like to have the same firm handle the insepctions. I-and-S also has letters of support from Story and Boone Counties… but county engineer Jon Ites said they won’t be doing inspections for all 18 counties, as at least a couple of counties have indicated they will use other firms.
Supervisor Rhonda Ringgenberg noted I-and-S already have knowledge of county landowners. Ites said I-and-S was hired by the pipeline company to do drainage district research.
