After a first round loss in last years state tourney the South Central Calhoun girls basketball team reached the semi-final round in 2015 thanks to a 65-50 win over IKM-Manning in the opening round of the girls 2A state tourney.
The Titans used great defense and excellent rebounding and had three players score in double figures led by Kori Assman with 17, Haley Birks had 16, and Michaela Graffunder chipped in with 13 points. The Titans were trailing 29-25 with under three minutes to play in the first half when they went on a 10-2 run to finish the half and led 35-31 after two quarters of play. They would then begin the 3rd quarter with a 10-1 run to build a 45-32 midway through the period and IKM-Manning would get no closer than eight the rest of the way.
The Wolves were led by Andy Nulle who scored a team high 12 points, IKM-Manning finished the year with a record of 23-2.
The Titans are also 23-2 and will now play top ranked and unbeaten Unity Christian (25-0) in the 2A semi-final round Thursday morning at 11:45. The game will be broadcast on Mix 101.7 KAYL.
