Poky Boys Season Ends in Substate

The Pocahontas Area boys basketball team ran into an outside shooting onslaught, as 7th ranked Forest City defeated Poky 70-55 in a 2A substate final on Saturday night in Algona.

Forest City ended the 1st quarter on a 13-1 run to go up 25-12, and never relinquished their double-figure lead the rest of the game.

Forest City (23-2), extended their winning streak to 21,  making 12 threes, including ten in the 1st half.  Erich Erdman led Forest City’s attack with a game-high 36 points.

Tanner Youngberg led Pocahontas Area with 14, followed by Aaron Aljets with 12, and Austin Roetman had 9.  Poky’s season ends at 18-6.  Their seniors include Aljets, Keegan Jamison, Dominic Johnson, Todd Pratt, and Ryan Grebner.
