Poky Girls Dominate ; Headed to State

An 18-0 1st half run ignited the Pocahontas Area girls basketball team to a 72-33 win over Roland Story in a 3A region final Saturday night in Webster City.

The Indians led 35-15 at the half, and got the game to a running clock situation before the 3rd quarter was over.

Elle Ruffridge had a game-high 25 points, and hit five of Poky’s eight 3’s.  Rose Meyer was next in line with 14 points.

The 2nd ranked Indians are now 23-1, and have qualified for state for the first time since 2005.  Pocahontas Area will play Clear Lake (18-6) in a 3A state tournament 1st round game at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on Tuesday, March 3rd at 5pm.  That game will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM.
